Welcome to UGES Computers

  •

Excited for another year in the computer lab.  Stop in if you would like to see some outstanding computer work! Students make sure to tell your parents what is happening in the computer lab.  We are extremely busy learning about new technologies and how we can safely use them in our school and at home.

K-4 grades work on connecting their computer learning to what they are learning in their classrooms. They have class with me for a half hour every week.  3rd grade students will begin a keyboarding unit starting the second semester. They will be keyboarding for 30 minutes 2 times a week.  Once with me in the lab and at least once a week in their classroom on a COW. Research says that most students are developmentally ready by 4th grade. When students are typing at home please stress the importance of proper technique and homerow--they will know what you mean. 5th and 6th graders will focus on research techniques to help them with their classroom projects. 7th and 8th graders will be doing lots of work with Microsoft Office. Thanks to the teachers for their support and efforts to encourage technology in our school.

We have a beautiful STEM setup in lab plus an awesome new paint job.  Ask your student what type of STEM activities they have been doing in the lab.  Our focus is to incorporate literature in STEM.  So much fun!

Mrs. McBryde and the staff at UGES has been busy this summer setting up new Chromebooks for 6th, 7th, 8th graders, classroom Ipad sets, ereaders, Smartboards and lots more for the 2017-2018 school year.  We are moving forward with technology and STEM in our building.

You are welcome to stop in any time to see what we are learning.
